KUCHING: Democratic Action Party (DAP) secretary-general Lim Guan Eng’s claims that 60 per cent of the pledges made by Pakatan Harapan (PH) has been fulfilled is being disputed.

Begging to differ, political analyst Datuk Peter Minos wondered how Lim came up with the figure because he does not believe that the promises had been quantified and the ones fulfilled were ticked one by one.

“Just look at all the big promises such as the 20 per cent oil and gas royalty to Sarawak, restoring all the state’s autonomy under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), reducing the cost of living, abolishing higher education debts (loans), creating job opportunities, etc. Certainly not all have been fulfilled,” he said.

“Malaysians don’t want to hear the government making excuses for covering its weaknesses and failures. People are clearly disappointed, frustrated and turning away from PH.

“That was why PH lost massively by a whopping 15,000 votes in the recent by-election in Tanjung Piai, Johor.

“Malaysians are fed up of old promises that were broken and empty ones being made, while the high and rising costs of living hurt many people especially low-income earners.”

He said Lim’s claim can’t fool those who are in the know and cannot be led to.

“Frankly speaking, the 60 per cent seems like a figure conjured using some creative mathematics or at worst something plucked from thin air,” said Minos.

Speaking on the same issue, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy youth chief Miro Simuh said Lim must have thought that he could throw up the 60 per cent claim as a smoke screen or maybe he’s living in a state of denial.

“A majority of Malaysians know and realised what PH had been doing so far. The PH government just cannot govern well and there are too many internal conflicts which have resulted in the lack of focus. Guan Eng was just making himself look good but the reality is the opposite,” he said.
