Inaugural Anak Sarawak Night Run in Kuala Lumpur aims to set new Malaysia Book of Records entry

KUALA LUMPUR: The Anak Sarawak Night Run here is aiming to set a new record in the Malaysia Book of Records with runners racing through tunnels and on highways.

Caretaker Senior Works Minister and Sarawak Volunteers Association (Sarawak Volunteers) patron Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said it is the first time in history that such a run is being organised in Kuala Lumpur with Sarawak Volunteers as one of the co-organiser.

“The run will be recorded in the Malaysia Book of Record as the first run through tunnels and on highways,” he said.

He said this during the ‘Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak’ 2022 dinner reception which was graced by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here last night (Oct 15).

The Anak Sarawak Night Run is also known as the Anak Sarawak Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM) Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) Penchala Link Tunnel Night Run.

The run to be held on Nov 5 will commence at the Plaza Tol DASH Kota Damansara with flag-off at 9pm.

There will be six categories namely 12km International Men’s / Women’s Open; 12km Malaysia Men’s Open/ Men’s Senior; 12km Malaysia Women’s Open / Women’s Senior; 4km Malaysian Men’s / Women Fun Run; 12km Sarawak Only Men’s / Women’s Open; and 4km Sarawak Men’s / Women’s Open.
