KUCHING: For the first time ever the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) organised an inclusivity programme with Kampung Senari at Jalan Bako to instil a sense of responsibility among the people to maintain village security and cleanliness.
Demak assemblyman Dr Hazland Hipni said the programme was aimed at making the village more beautiful, cleaner and safer.
He said the programme involved the participation of the villagers as well as the local authority.
“This programme organised by DBKU is also part of the community development,” he said during the programme at Kampung Senari earlier today (Sept 5).
According to him, the community was getting more closely knit every day and living like one family.
“As a community, we should be responsible for our own society,” he said.
In the programme DBKU held a 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) competition and a ‘gotong-royong’ during which villagers clean their areas, the main road and the general surrounding.
