KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the cabinet had decided on several initiatives to generate extra income for Sarawak.

He reiterated that the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030) would bring the state to a more glorious era in the years to come.
“Through this (PCDS), we have been able to identify some sectors that we must improve on which will give economic returns to Sarawak.

“God willing, Sarawak will become a developed state with high income by the year 2030,” he said.

He said this at the Premier Department’s Majlis Raya-Gawai 2022 held at Atrium 2 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building on Thursday (June 16).

Commenting on the colorful traditional and national attires worn by attendees to the event, Abang Johari said it illustrated the state’s rich cultures and tradition.

“I am dressed in a Western attire with a songkok, but this shows how we are also liberal and the liberal approach (of doing things) will create wealth for our state,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to the state civil service under the leadership of State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion for working hard in facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the close cooperation between the civil service and state leaders had enabled the government to identify the direction for Sarawak after the COVID-19 pandemic in order to recover the state’s economic performance.

“A good partnership between the state leaders and civil service can bring about better situations particularly on our economic development that will change Sarawak for the better,” he pointed out.
