KUCHING: A foreigner was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment and fined RM5,000 in default six months’ jail by the High Court here on Monday for sneaking six Indonesians into the state in November last year.

Judge Dr Alwi Abdul Wahab sentenced Soroso, 42, after he pleaded guilty to the charge read to him by an interpreter.

The court ordered the accused to serve his jail sentence from the date of his arrest on Nov 2 last year.

The Indonesian was charged with smuggling the migrants in at Jalan Tanah Liat, Kampung Raso at 9 pm on Nov 2 last year.
