MIRI: An Indonesian man has been detained on Wednesday for allegedly raping and impregnating his 15 year-old girlfriend.
According to Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol, the 24 year-old suspect was apprehended at 7.30pm on Wednesday (December 16) at Miri Hospital, following a report lodged by the girl’s father.
It was reported that the girl had given birth that same evening at Miri hospital.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, from West Kalimantan Indonesia, had come to work in Miri as a construction worker since 2015.
“They both had known each other at their workplace at Jalan Nasturium in Riam in 2017, and in October last year they moved in together,” said Sabri.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
