Fire razed the workers’ quarters

MARUDI: An Indonesian man was injured while bravely trying to save his belongings in a burning double-storey worker’ quarters incident at Jalan Ridan here on Sunday.

The Marudi Fire and Rescue station chief Maureen Sim said that the man suffered minor injuries on his right shoulder during the incident.

The fire was reported at 1.25 pm, prompting an immediate response from a team of six firefighters.

The injured man received medical attention at the scene before being rushed to the hospital.

Tragically, the fire left 17 Indonesians homeless.

The firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 1.41 pm, and the operation concluded an hour later.

As of now, the cause of the fire is still being investigated by the authorities.
