Indonesian man arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs

The packages containing drugs worth more than RM530,000, were seized by GOF last Saturday (Dec 26).

SERIAN:  An Indonesian man was arrested by General Operation Force (GOF) for allegedly trafficking drugs worth more than RM530,000 last Saturday Dec 26).

Sarawak GOF Brigade commander SAC Mancha Ata said the incident happened around 4pm near Sungai Paoh area.

A team of GOF 11th Battalion were carrying out ‘Ops Benteng Covid’ when they spotted a car on the hillside road of Sungai Paoh heading towards the Sarawak-Indonesia border.

The team approached the car and saw three unknown men exiting the car and ran quickly into the bushes. However, the team managed to apprehend one of them in his 20s.

“Further inspections found seven packages in the back seat of the car and three of the packages contained crystal lumps believed to be syabu with an estimated weight of 3kg while the other packages contained 19,516 Estacy pills in blue, brown and pink colour weighing 7.9kg.

“All the seized items are estimated to have street values of RM536,288,” he said.

SAC Mancha noted that both the arrest and seizures were handed over to Serian police headquarters (IPD) for further actions under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
