Indonesian man held after gruesome find

LAWAS: A shirtless dead body of an Indonesian man with multiple slash wounds was found in a drain of an oil palm plantation in Kampung Siang Siang Laut here this morning.

According to Acting Lawas police chief ASP Liong Tindan, the discovery was made by a member of the public at around 9.30am. He later on alerted the police.

Liong added, acting on the report lodged, a team of Lawas police personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was deployed to the scene located about 3km from Jalan Sundar.

The remains had been brought to Lawas Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Subsequent to the discovery, the police arrested an Indonesian man, aged 32, to assist in their case investigation.

They also recovered and seized a piece of cloth believed to be used to cover the dead body.

The arrest was made around 12.10pm that same day at an oil palm plantation quarters in Ladang Trusan.

“We are still investigating the actual motive to the killing,” said the local police chief.

It was believed that the deceased was attracted to the suspect’s wife and had attempted to seduce her.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
