MIRI: Inmates and staff of Miri Central Prison who are tested positive for Covid-19 will be placed at the Covid-19 Low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre (PKRC) which is established within the prison facility.

This was disclosed by the minister in charge of the Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) Datuk Lee Kim Shin today.

“For the Tembok Miri Cluster (Miri Central Prison), the inmates and staff during the quarantine period will be placed under the supervision of the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and the police,” he said.

Lee added that they had identified two prison building blocks for monitoring and treatment of inmates and prison staff.

Miri Central Prison was amongst three prison clusters reported on Friday by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

A total of 59 individuals were found infected with the Covid-19 at the Miri Central Prison while 572 samples were yet to be verified as of today.
