Infrastructure projects will uplift rural economy

KUCHING: The infrastructure projects developed in Long Teran, Marudi will improve the socio-economy of the residents.

Local Government Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said the road leading to Long Teran Kanan was recently upgraded under Projek Rakyat.

He said currently, there are plans to build a bridge from Long Teran Kanan to Long Teran Batu/Kiri along with upgrading the road in Long Teran.

“This project aims to connect Long Teran Kanan and Long Teran Batu/Kiri to uplift the living standards and socio-economy of the people in the area.

“This is part of Projek Rakyat which was just been approved by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and the state government for Marudi,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Aug 14).

On Friday, Penguang visited Long Teran along with the Miri Public Works Department (JKR) for a discussion session with the local community leaders for the implementation of the project.

At the same time, he also visited several projects that are currently being implemented using the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and minor rural projects (MRP) funds.

He also conducted site visits to Ulu Teru and Sungai (Sg) Seputi/Sg Sebindang to discuss the proposed road upgrading project in the area.

In the afternoon, Penguang presented MRP grants to the local village safety and development committees (JKKKs) in Beluru.

Also receiving the allocations were the respective JKKKs’ Women Bureau and the Army Veteran’s Association.
