KUCHING: The constituents of Demak Laut have been told that the state government is looking after their welfare and wellbeing through the various initiatives and assistance offered.

There are various types of assistance and initiatives by the state government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to help the people, Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said.

Such is a reflection of the government’s concern of the needs of the community and fulfilling its responsibility to take care of Sarawakians, he pointed out.

“Since time immemorial, Sarawak government has been very concerned about the needs of its people to ensure their lives are prosperous.

“In fact, the current GPS government has also continued the tradition by issuing assistance and initiatives such as Maternity Assistance, Sarawak Endowment Fund (EFS), Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) and Death Compassionate Assistance (BIK).

“Not only that, there is also the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS), Fishermen Assistance, minor rural project (MRP)-Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS) and so on,” he said when met during a visit to the completed MRP-PPRMS houses in Kampung Tabuan Tengah recently.

A total of six houses involved in MRP-PPRMS in Kampung Tabuan Hilir and Kampung Tabuan Tengah received visits from the assemblyman.

Dr Hazland said the assistance channelled to the recipients had given them a new lease of life, adding that such was the case in terms of home improvement.

“The home improvement assistance for the B40 group is one of the GPS government’s initiatives for the low-income community.

“This assistance is also a ‘saviour’ to those in need after trying for a long time to find a solution in repairing their homes,” he added.

In the meantime, he also hoped that the MRP-PPRMS aid recipients will live in better comfort and remain safe with their houses repaired.
