MIRI: A teenage hiker who injured her ankle, was rescued by firefighters at Giam Waterfall, in Bakam on Monday afternoon (Aug 31).

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, a team of firemen from Miri Fire Station was deployed to the scene after a distress call was received around 4.05pm.

It was told that the 19-year-old victim while trekking with her peers, injured her ankle and caused her inability to proceed with the activity.

The team found the victim and her peers around 5.45pm. Team members immediately attended to the victim’s injury and she was said to be better after the emergency treatment.

She was later sent to Miri Hospital for further treatment and the rescue operation wrapped up at 6.30pm.
