LAWAS: The Sarawak Land and Survey Department (JTS) will continue to hold its Innovation and Integrity Day (Hiits), said director, Abdullah Julaihi.

He said over the years, the event had served as a platform to generate new ideas which were later developed into innovative projects to empower service delivery.

“Thirteen JTS groups will be presenting their projects at the Hiits this year including eight which have passed the first stage of assessment for the Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Convention Awards (SCSICA),” he said.

Abdullah revealed this at the launch of the JTS’ Innovation and Integrity Day (Hiits) 2020,  themed ‘Sustaining the Transformation Ecosystem’, at Hotel Seri Malaysia here on Tuesday (Sept 29). The event was officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

What was also revealed here were ideas from the department’s innovative and creative group (KIK) that have already resulted in the implementation of 152 quality projects focusing on four key components – manpower, work processes and procedures, legal framework and technology.

The director added that just like last year,  various projects this year involved collaboration with other agencies; this year, JTS Bintulu collaborated with the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA).

Abdullah explained the projects were selected based on public feedback while the planning and evaluation process took into account their relevance.

Among the positive impacts assessed in the implementation of the projects were cost-effectiveness and practicality, which included economic, social, and political aspects.

“All these aim to challenge the transformation of JTS officers’ mindsets to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective services,” said Abdullah.
