MUKAH: Medan Selera Mateding, the latest landmark in Mukah division, was completed last Saturday.
The project was handed over by the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) as the implementing agency to the Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM).
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at the launch of the food court cum popular rest stop for commuters along the Mukah-Balingan-Bintulu and Sibu coastal road on Monday.
Medan Selera Mateding aims to enhance business and entrepreneurial activities of the local people, particularly in Mukah and Balingian.
Its strategic location and ability to attract road users from Mukah, Sibu, Balingian and Bintulu have contributed to its establishment.
Also present at the ceremony were Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah who is also Dalat assemblywoman; Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk John Sikie Tayai; Assistant Minister of Urban Development and Resources Datuk Len Talif Salleh; Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi and other dignitaries.
