MIRI: Vaccination against Covid-19 for those aged between 12 and 18 in the division will commence on Sept 10.

Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is the minister-in-charge of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) said this during a zoom meeting with the committee members yesterday.

The zoom meeting was also attended by education officers from Baram, Miri and Subis districts.

“Parents or guardians of teenagers in the age group will be notified by their respective schools on their vaccination appointments,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lee, who is also Transport Minister, said Miri DDMC would be prioritising teenagers with comorbidities for the vaccination.

For those in the rural areas, he said the inoculation would be carried out at Long San Health Clinic (Long San vaccination centre) and Long Panai Health Clinic (Long Panai vaccination centre).

Lee appealed to local community leaders and village chiefs to help identify school drop-outs, aged 16 to 18, at their respective areas in order to get them inoculated as well.
