KUCHING: In order to record his appreciation for the services and sacrifices of frontliners who have been risking their lives in the fight against Covid-19, a Bidayuh singer has dedicated a song in a video clip to them.

Halix Kuyong and one of his cousins took just two days to produce the video in his studio.

In the four-minute video clip, Halix sings a Malay song entitled ‘Pejuang’ that he himself composed. The lyric which he also wrote tells of the struggles and risks faced by the frontliners.

“My cousin assisted me to do the mixing and I recorded my voice using just my handphone,” he said.

He admitted that during the recording session, he repeatedly shed tears as he empathised with the struggles of those who have been dicing with the threat of contracting the deadly Covid-19.

“I am also a frontliner. My staff and I work to keep Kuching clean all the time,” said Halix, who is Trienekens Logistics Department manager.

Halix, who is from Kampung Bratan in Penrissen, is well-known among the Bidayuh for his hit song “Anak Dari”. He hopes that his song would inspire the frontliners to keep performing their tough duties.

“People in this country must appreciate their sacrifices. Doctors and nurses have to be separated from their children and husbands or wives for two, three weeks or even months to save lives from Covid-19,” he said.
