LUNDU: Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang said religious knowledge should be instilled among the young in the effort to address social problems related to drug abuse.

He said with the increase in cases, especially around the villages on the Lundu to Biawak road, parents need to inculcate good habits among their children through religious education to address this problem.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) he said this while attending the Program Ziarah UKAS @ Komuniti 2022 Semarak Ramadhan at Masjid Darul Hidayah, Kampung Jangkar on Tuesday.

About 80 individuals attended the programme involving Muslim converts in villages along Biawak road such as Kampung Jangkar, Kampung Jantan, Kampung Biawak, Kampung Sedaing, Kampung Tanjam and Kampung Opek.

Besides that, he also advised those present to always adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) of Covid-19.
They also received contributions of dates and porridge from Billy apart from breaking the fast together.
