KUCHING: An inaugural ‘Public Private Partnership focusing on the security and risk management’ forum here attracted 120 participants. The forum held in conjunction with the Insurance Society of Sarawak’s 40th anniversary celebration and in collaboration with the State Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPN) was held yesterday.

Deputy State Secretary (Rural Transformation) Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik said majority of the public were aware of the importance of insurance and were also insured or covered, “however, do they actually understand the benefits of the coverage that they purchased?”

“Most of us have heard about insurance and encouraged by our friends to take up one, but do we actually understand what we are buying? “The question is, are we buying the right insurance, be it on a personal basis, properties (vehicle or house),” he said when officiating at the forum.

He added that the forum served as a platform for those in the industry to share the benefits to individuals and organisations and what the industry could contribute towards the state’s economy.
