KUALA LUMPUR: Insurance companies and Takaful operators will remain open to provide services to their customers during the 14-day Movement Control Order that starts from today until March 31.

Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM), Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) and the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) said proactive steps would be taken to ensure that essential services provided to customers would continue in the two-week period.

“Insurance companies and Takaful operators remain committed to ensure that all aspects of insurance protection for policyholders are not affected during this period,” they said in a joint statement released today.

To minimise direct human interaction to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, the three associations encouraged the public to use digital platforms to communicate with all insurers and Takaful operators.

Payments could be made via e-payment, direct distribution channels and other online platforms, they said.

“Alternatively, contact your agent or broker who will be able to assist you through their respective digital communication platforms with the insurance companies and Takaful operators,” they added.
