BINTULU: Police conducted an integrated operation in collaboration with the Bintulu Development Authority, Civil Defence Force and the police reserve volunteers to ensure a peaceful Ramadan.

Bintulu police chief, Superintendent Zulkipli Suhaili said during the operation, a series of roadblocks including snap checks were conducted in hotspots to check and track down suspicious persons or vehicles. A local man was arrested in Kampung Assyakirin for involving in drugs abuse.

“To curb the spread of COVID-19, monitoring on standard operating procedures (SOPs) compliance by business premises were also done.

“In addition, monitoring of illegal racing activities was also conducted at hotspot locations during the integrated operations,” Zulkipli said.

He assured that the police would continue to intensify patrols and visits to housing areas, villages, business premises and other areas in the district in their efforts to curb crimes. Such initiatives were also aimed at ensuring the safety of people in living a more peaceful and prosperous daily life.

He added that reminders, warnings and advice have been given to owners and visitors of business premises so that the community is aware of the importance of compliance with the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“Business premises located near residential areas are also given warnings and advice against playing loud music until late at night.

“In the meantime, the community is also expected to be more sensitive and concerned by working together with the PDRM in ensuring that any criminal activities do not occur in this district,” he said.
