KUCHING: The state government is committed to fighting against corruption, increasing the level of integrity and practicing good administration among public servants.

Deputy Minister at the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya said integrity needs to be seen and lived in a much wider context.

“Integrity does not just mean that we need to stay away from corruption, irregularities and abuse of power.

“The concept of integrity brings the meaning of living and practicing values, trustworthiness, honesty, accountability and a firm personality,” he said during the launching of the Certified Integrity Officer Programme Series 30 Bil. 2/2022 at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre on Monday (May 23).

“The government under the leadership of the Premier of Sarawak has put integrity and anti-corruption as its main priority,” he said.

He said on May 15, 2019, the state government had come up with the Sarawak Integrity State Circular Bil 2/2019.

“I’m thankful, most of the Ministries, departments, and public agencies took notice and the desire and aspiration of this circular,” he added.

He also revealed that there are 90 Certified Integrity Officers (CeIO) among the ministries, departments and statutory bodies in the state.

“The commitment of the state government in developing even more Certified Integrity Officers (CeIO) is demonstrated with the continuation of this programme that starts today and will end on July 19,” he said.

He then explained that after the state government released the circular 70 agencies established their own Organisation of Anti Corruption Plan (OACP) by December 2021 with 16 others in the final stage of preparation.
