KOTA SAMARAHAN: Integrity has always been emphasised by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) in its work practices, says Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.

The Unimas vice-chancellor explained that integrity was one of the core values of Unimas’ ExCITE – Exemplary, Collegiality, Integrity, Tenacity and Equity.

“The result can be seen now in which the rate of violations as well as disciplinary cases has been kept under control.”

He said this at the 2021 Webinar Forum titled ‘Integrity and Current Challenges: What is Your Role?’ held virtually on Wednesday (Nov 17).

He added that Unimas also established an Integrity Division that manages and regulates all matters related to integrity to ensure that the varsity’s residents understand and know the procedures, rules and regulations.

“Unimas as one of the federal statutory bodies, will develop the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023 which is an anti-corruption policy that aims to address the problems and weaknesses of governance, integrity and anti-corruption.”

He also noted that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) had assisted in the development of the NACP with guidance and training by officers from the Finance Division, Internal Audit, Human Resource Management, Development Office, Risk Management and Integrity Division.

On the forum, he believed that it could explore current integrity issues and challenges and enhance understanding and come up with a more comprehensive approach to address them.
