PUTRAJAYA: The 2024 National Unity Week celebration begins today and runs until May 26 at Angsana Mall Shopping Centre, Johor Bahru, from 10 am to 10pm.

This is the second celebration of the National Unity Week, following its successful debut in Kuching, last year.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang in a statement said the event can serve as a platform for unity and integration through selective and effective grassroots approaches to strengthen community relations and maintain the unity ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the four-day celebration aims to attract approximately 200,000 visitors, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will officiate at the event on May 25 at 8 pm.

The celebration offers a variety of interesting and interactive activities for visitors, featuring the KAMI House Exhibition (featuring 22 ethnic houses), Orang Asli villages for the Seletar, Mahmeri, and Semai tribes, a longhouse village for the Iban tribe, and exhibitions by government departments and private agencies.

It also includes a Rahmah Sale, exhibitions and sales of products from Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT), the Uniti Fun Run, food trucks, e-sports games, a helmet exchange by the Road Transport Department (JPJ), traffic summons fines discount by the police, and performances by famous artistes during the Malam Irama Sama-Sama Kita.

In conjunction with the celebration, the National Unity Ministry (KPN) has set up a media centre at the Akasia Field tent, opposite Angsana Mall, to facilitate media practitioners in obtaining the latest programme information during the celebration.

“The KPN invites the public, especially the residents of Johor Bahru and surrounding areas, to join and enliven the National Unity Week celebration.

“This celebration is a valuable opportunity for us to empower unity and harmony among Malaysians, thereby strengthening the foundation of national integration based on the Constitution and the Rukun Negara,” the ministry said.
