KUCHING: Essential food and beverages were donated to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) frontliners in appreciation for treating Covid-19 patients and minimising the spread of the virus.

The donation was from Interhill Group ― the company that owns Pullman Kuching Hotel and Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel.

In a statement, the company acknowledged the SGH frontliners who have been working relentlessly since the emergence of Covid-19 in Sarawak.

Hence, the company reached out to SGH deputy director (Medical IV) Dr Norinawaty Abg Daud with the idea of contributing some essential food and beverages for the medical team.

“Unlike most of us, they (frontliners) can’t just go to a supermarket or order takeaways or have food delivered to them because of the nature of their duties.

“These medical workers often do not have supper or midnight snacks when they are on night shift or heading back to their quarters after a long day’s work.

“Our medical heroes are facing the pandemic, taking care of us, taking risks and sacrificing their family time. They stay at work for us, so we must stay at home for them,” the statement read.

Interhill Group hoped that their contributions would give some comfort and moral support to the frontliners so that they would remain motivated and have energy to continue working.

The company wishes to express its utmost gratitude to the medical personnel and hoped that they would fight to stay safe and healthy.

Pullman Kuching and Pullman Miri Waterfront also flashed encouraging messages in the evening using their room lights, reminding everyone to “stay home, stay safe, practice frequent hand washing and wear face masks”.
