International designers showcase collections

KUCHING: Eighteen international designers including those from Malaysia came together to showcase their collections in an International Fashion Show and Gala Night held at Pullman Hotel here last Saturday night.

The designers were Alfonso Guino-O (Philippines), Narda’s (Philippines), Rumah Rakuji (Indonesia), Fanti Novita (Indonesia), Anuradha Pegu (India), Bina Rao (India), Asif Shaikh (India), Yuan Guo Xiang (China), Paiwan Style (Taiwan), Maheen Khan (Bangladesh), Aidar Khan (Kazakhstan), Altynai Osmoeva (Kyrgyztan), Keo Sri Everingham (Laos), Raymond Wong (Singapore), Sakon Nakhon (Thailand), Khon Kaen (Thailand), Edric Ong (Malaysia), Tanoti (Malaysia) and Livan Handicraft (Malaysia).

All of the collections were presented by 29 models on the runway.

The event was held in conjunction with the World Craft Cities Network and Asean Handicraft Promotion and Development Association (Ahpada) and the 10th Biennial World Eco Fiber and Textile (WEFT) Forum 2019.

Gracing the event was Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah who was accompanied by his wife Datin Zuraini Abdul Jabbar.

Also present were former deputy chief minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang and wife cum Society Atelier Sarawak advisor Tan Sri Empiang Jabu, permanent secretary to Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry Hii Chang Kee, as well as Society Atelier Sarawak president Edric Ong.

The same event also witnessed Abdul Karim and the honorable guests performing the cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the WEFT forum.
