Introduction of OSH in pre-schools lauded

KUCHING: The State Government’s assertive focus on ensuring safety measures be introduced at the pre-school level is a right move to inculcate the culture of safety within the society.

This was pointed out by chairman of National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye during a luncheon meeting with Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah at a hotel here, recently.

It was Tan Sri Lee’s response after hearing from Datuk Fatimah that her Ministry had planned to introduce the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in nurseries and kindergartens soon.

Fatimah had said that from this year onwards a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of all nurseries and kindergartens must include the safety aspect to protect the children from any untoward incident within the premises and around their compounds.

At the luncheon, Tan Sri Lee presented his book “Advocating OSH For All” to Datuk Hajah Fatimah.

The luncheon was hosted by the managing director of Trac-Wheels (M) Sdn Bhd and TM TEC Academy, Richard Song Swee Jin.

Among those present were director of TM TEC Academy, Lawrence Lee Chin Fook and TM TEC Academy trainer, Madam Andrea Chin Kui Siam.
