Investigation into traffic policeman’s alleged aggression

KUCHING: Police are investigating a traffic policeman following a viral video on social media showing his alleged aggression towards a motorcyclist in Jalan Temple, Sibu on Tuesday (Aug 25).

Sarawak Commissioner of Police Datuk Aidi Ismail said a team of traffic policemen were carrying out ‘Op Motosikal’ check around 12.15pm.

The video that was taken by the public showed a traffic policemen kicking a motorcycle that was making a U-turn to avoid the check.

“We are currently investigating the matter and stern action will be taken against this officer if he is found negligent or acting aggressively while performing his duties,” CP Aidi said in a statement.

He added that inspection carried out found several traffic offences such as driving without licence, having expired road tax, not covered by insurance, going against traffic flow and modified exhaust.

CP Aidi added that traffic summonses were issued to the errant motorcyclists.
