RAZAILI Gapor (PBB-Beting Maro) has called for the state government to give ‘special attention’ to the Beting Maro constituency.

He said this includes the provision of modern agricultural infrastructure, namely drainage and irrigation to cultivate agricultural land free of saltwater.

“It is hoped that the RM797 million allocated under the 2021 State Budget could be utilised to implement several transformation and modernisation initiatives for the agricultural sector in the Beting Maro area,” he said during debate time today.

He also appealed to the Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Ministry (Manred) to extend assistance to pineapple farmers in Sg Muruk, Sg Beras Beladin, Sg Lamun Tambak and Sg Stru Pusa.

“I also appeal to Manred to expedite the implementation of Agroparks and Nipah plantations as well as the construction of the gula apong processing centre in Kampung Tambak,” he added.

Razaili said agricultural success depends on the efficiency of the marketing system to bring agricultural products into the market.

“The state government has been asked to look into the need for marketing infrastructure facilities and modern sales centres such as a collecting, processing and packaging centre (CPPC) and ‘Anjung Usahawan’ in rural areas.”

Additionally, he also urged the state government to expand the coverage of digital economic infrastructure to all villages in Beting Maro.

“Telecommunication towers are crucial to provide widespread internet access in rural areas.

“This is because the high-speed internet connection is needed to invigorate the digital economy,” he explained.
