MIRI: Police here on Friday night detained a 31 year-old local man for his alleged involvement in stealing iron rods.

He allegedly stole a total of 14 iron rods worth RM2,000 from a construction site in Kampung Lusut here.

The arrest was made in less than 24 hours after the items were reported stolen earlier that day.

Some police personnel from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) picked up the suspect from a house at Lorong Jati 2F in Desa Senadin around 11pm on that day during a raid under Ops Pintu.

During the arrest, police successfully recovered the missing 14 iron rods from the suspect’s possession.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari confirmed the arrest made when contacted.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
