KUCHING: Independent Islamic preacher and the principal of the Al-Ulya Education Centre in Ipoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan Datuk Ustaz Kazim Elias Al-Hafiz captivated the audience  during his interesting talk at the Kuching Waterfront here last Friday night.

The talk entitled “The Roles and Challenges of The Ummah In The Smart Technology Era”, was graced by the Chief Minister’s wife Datuk Amar Jumaani Tuanku Bujang.

Kazim warned the audience about “fitnah” (literally translated as temptation) which could lead to greed and severe ties among mankind.

Referring to the 1964 Malaysian comedy film “Tiga Abdul” by P Ramlee, he complimented the director/actor for his brilliance in illustrating “fitnah”.

In the film, the unfair distribution of property was considered a “fitnah” as it severed ties between family members.

In his talk, Kazim said there were a few examples of family members making the headlines because they committed crimes against their own blood over property.

“Although wealth is important, use it for a good cause. Give alms in good and bad times,” he advised.
