KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 case on Sunday, with the total number of cases remaining at 555.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), one patient recovered and was discharged from Sibu Hospital on the same day.

“Thus far, the total number of Covid-19 cases which have recovered and discharged is 525, or 94.59 per cent,” it said in a statement today.

SDMC also reported seven new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases with two cases awaiting laboratory results.

Based on statistics from Sarawak Health Department, there are presently 13 cases undergoing treatment at hospitals, with none in intensive care unit (ICU) or requiring breathing assistance.

Meanwhile, a total of 5,391 applications for inter-district travel were received by district police headquarters statewide on Sunday, bringing the cumulative total to 127,138 applications.

“Of these, 117,294 have been approved and another 9,844 were rejected,” SDMC said.

SDMC reminded members of the public to continue practising social distancing and strict personal hygiene to ensure that infection cases could be reduced.

“With the reopening of economic and social sectors in stages, these practices must be implemented as the new norm throughout the community,” it advised.
