PH Parliamentary coordinators
KUCHING: The formation of parliamentary coordinators by Pakatan Harapan (PH) in Sarawak has irked PBB vice president Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
He casted aspersions on the individuals appointed to the post by state PKR chief Baru Bian, who appointed them in his capacity as State Development Action Council chairman.
“It is despicable and irresponsible. I hope Sarawakians can smell the ulterior motive of PH government in trying to split up Sarawak and assume the state government.
“This is a backdoor way of the PH government to justify the payment of public funds to their cronies and personalities to contest in the next general election,” he said in a Facebook posting on Saturday.
Abdul Karim drew comparison of the coordinators to the Federal Village Community Management Council (MPKK) whose purpose was questioned by some due to its duplication of the roles being played by Village Safety and Development Committee (JKKK).
“This is similar to the MPPKP set up by PH all over Sarawak which was disguised as an avenue to ‘disseminate information’ but in reality, to inject public fund to buy votes in the longhouses and villages.
Baru on Friday announced 19 parliamentary coordinators positioned in the parliamentary constituencies which they lost in the last general election.
The 19 individuals will receive a funding of RM500,000 from the Prime Minister’s Department to perform their roles in monitoring the implementation of federal and state government projects within their area.
