KUCHING: Ten kids are going to perform and showcase their talent in the second edition of Sarawak Kids Got Talent (SKGT) 2019 on Oct 23 at the Imperial Hotel here.

They are Mohammad Ar Rayyan Mohammad Nizam who will be presenting a Public Speaking performance in Bahasa Melayu, Aira Nazneen Nurjayadi (Public Speaking in English), Kayden Maurice Ridgeley (Public Speaking in Iban Language), Ianqaira Dary Arrifda Abdul Aziz and Fadziel Nuzul Mahriez Mahatzir (Solo Singing), Taska Alam Ceria and SeDidik Mutiara Igan dance teams (Dancing), Vera Wong Xu Yen (Drawing and Coloring), Gershon Wenc Wilfred (Special Talent) and Al Zahra Adila Mohd (Judge Special Award).

Chief Minister’s wife Datuk Amar Jumaani Tuanku Bujang is expected to officiate at the event.

According to Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, the event acts as a platform to highlight the kids’ talent and potential.

“Although they are still young, we believed that their potential should be nurtured at a young age and right up to the highest level,” she told reporters at a press conference at Baitulmakmur building here on Friday.

She further explained that the kids were chosen based on their performances in several occasions held at the agency-level last month.

On the coming event, she revealed that the ten performers will participate in a one-day workshop on Oct 21, two days before the big show.

At the workshop, they will be given proper guidance, training and professional advice by people who are specialised in their respective areas, meaning the children should be able to polish their acts for the stage.

Fatimah said her ministry hoped that the kids’ achievement and talent would not be abandoned but will be recorded in their kindergartens’ profile so that the personal profiling of the kids can be brought into their primary school in the future.

She said if this is done, the kids’ talent will be further recognised as they advance in their academic pursuit.

Fatimah said there will be another separate workshop to be held next year.

This workshop will focus on developing the skills of the teachers in certain aspects such as vocal coaching, dancing and public speaking, to ensure that they can continue to nurture the children to the highest level.
