Jalan Pengiran Cluster emerges in Kuching

KUCHING: A new cluster, Jalan Pengiran Cluster, emerged here today after seven new local Covid-19 cases linked to index Case 3,218 were detected by the State Health Department.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) revealed in its daily statement during active detection of close contacts and family members, 65 individuals had been screened and that 57 had tested negative.

The index of this cluster, Case 3,218, involving a local man working at an administrative centre at Jalan Pengiran Matu, tested positive after undergoing a Covid-19 screening test on Jan 24.

He was screened after returning from a social visit in Sibu.

The Jalan Pengiran Cluster brings the number of active clusters in Sarawak to 11.

Of the 11 active clusters, the Pasai Cluster continues to record the highest number of Covid-19 daily cases with 32 new cases, bringing the total cases under this cluster to 1,934 today.

Under this cluster, 22,000 individuals had been screened; 18,908 had tested negative while 1,158 people were still waiting for the lab test results.

Rakut Cluster also recorded 131 total positive cases after 16 new individuals were found positive Covid-19 today; 450 individuals had been screened, 284 had tested negative while 35 people were still waiting for the lab test results.

Eleven new positive Covid-19 cases were recorded under the Tabong Bau Cluster. The cluster now has 20 cases after 150 individuals were screened. The remaining 75 individuals tested negative while 55 were waiting for lab test results.

Bedayan Cluster in Serian and Bukit Sekubong Cluster in Sebauh recorded one new case each respectively.

Bedayan Cluster recorded 15 positive cases in total while Bukit Sekubong Cluster had 31 positive Covid-19 cases as of today.
