KUCHING: The champion of disabled athlete (OKU) swimmer, Jamery Siga (S5), 32, is targeting to deliver at least two gold medals for the national team at the 9th Para-ASEAN Games 2017 scheduled in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 17 to 23.

With two of his favourite categories, 50m butterfly and 200m freestyle events, the Kampung Kuala Mewap swimmer from Limbang was confident of his medal hopes.

Nevertheless, he was also aware of the challenging task ahead against rivals from other participating countries.

“My mission is to try to win at least two gold medals for the state camp.

“It’s a very challenging task but I’m confident I can do it,” Jamery said, recently.

According to Jamery, with the full-time preparation and training conducted several months ago, he is now ready to go.

For Jamery, nothing is impossible with his experience as he has often represented the country in the same Games.

“The experience gives me confidence to survive the real challenge,” added Jamery, who recognised his multiple credits after being elected as the OKU Sportsman Award 2015/2016 in conjunction with the Sarawak State Sports Awards 2015/2016 held recently.

“Hopefully, the target will be a motivation for me to come up with more enthusiasm,” said Jamery, who competed in another event, 50m freestyle.
