SEMATAN: Tanjong Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu says it is up to the Chief Minister and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to decide on the party’s candidates in the coming state election.

She asserted that the chief minister was more knowledgeable in determining the candidate in each constituency.

“For me, it is up to the chief Minister as he is the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman. He will decide on the candidate that will be placed in each respective constituency.

“We agree and believe that he is the most knowledgeable person in this matter,” she explained.

She said this during a visit to several rural transformation projects (RTP) in villages in Lundu and Sematan on Friday (Oct 29).

On the preparation for the election, she said the local community leaders have been informed and understood that the upcoming election would be conducted under the new norm.

This election, she added, would not be the same as in previous elections as all activities would be guided by standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“This is because we do not want another wave of Covid-19 outbreak to occur in the state due to the election,” she said.

In the meantime, she advised her constituents to always comply with the SOP for their own safety and that of their family members.

“Please remember the SOPs and take care of yourself. We cannot expect the government to remind us all the time,” she said.
