Japanese officials discuss collaboration with Sarawak forestry

KUCHING: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) received a courtesy visit from The Nippon Foundation of Tokyo on Wednesday (Aug 9).

The delegation from the foundation, which collaborates with international volunteers to advance social innovation and foster a more inclusive society, was led by its managing director Kazuto Sawatari.

Also present were its manager of project operation department Sayaka Sonobe, manager of public relations department Shinya Kurata and a representative from the Japan-Malaysia Association Kazue Sakai.

The delegation was welcomed by SFC deputy chief executive officer II Dr Melvin Gumal, head of terrestrial section Mohd Kasyfullah Zaini and manager of the special and development project unit Jacqueline Wong.

“The potential for collaborative conservation efforts between Sabal National Park and Gunung Apeng National Park were discussed during the visit,” SFC said in a statement.

The custodian of national parks and wildlife in Sarawak said it looks forward to collaborating with international partners to share knowledge and expertise in social innovation.
