KUCHING: A member from Junior Chambers International (JCI) becomes the first member from Sarawak to participate in the JCI World Congress debate competition in Zurich, Switzerland, from Nov 14 to 18.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said Lunnie Gan Siew Luen’s journey, marked by resilience and passion, has led her to the prestigious global platform, ever since she started to participate in debating and public speaking during her school days.

“I presented her with the Sarawak flag, symbolising the unity and unwavering support of the entire city for this remarkable endeavour.

“The moment marked a celebration of cultural diversity and the spirit of Sarawak,” he said in a statement.

On the other hand, Lunnie expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the community and pledged to represent Sarawak and Kuching with honour and distinction on the global stage.

The debate competition will bring a total of 3,500 JCI members from across the globe and it aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas on business and society, providing a platform for networking and skill development.
