Jepak included in state development agenda

Batang Kemena bridge will shorten the journey from Jepak to Bintulu.

BINTULU: The constituency of Jepak is part of the state government’s development agenda, said Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip.

He said under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government, the area will be developed to the same level as other areas in the state.

“The Batang Kemena bridge project is an example of a project that will benefit the surrounding community.

“Apart from shortening the journey to downtown Bintulu, it will be a new landmark in Bintulu when it is completed,” he said when officiating at the Bintulu Melanau Association dinner here on Saturday night.

Talib said there are also other developments that are being actively carried out throughout the year including Projek Rakyat, school repair work and Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects.

He said, among them are the road upgrade project at Rumah Egoh Ak Entala, Jalan Samarakan; Jepak Recreation Park, Jepak Petanque Court, as well as rebuilding the concrete ditch at Rumah Sam Ak Sumbang, Rumah Jungan Ak Mitoh, Rumah Lampoh Ak Dana and Rumah James Brooke Ak Mibang, Jalan Bintulu–Tatau.

He added that the fence at SMK Kemena Bintulu was also upgraded, as well as the multipurpose hall of Kampung Baru Bintulu.

Among the other projects were the construction of Kampung Baru Laut wooden jetty, new multi-purpose hall at SK Kuala Serupai, new road to Rumah Lunsa Ak Panto, Sungai Annau Tatau, new roofed jetty at Rumah Robert Nyembong Kuala Annau, Tatau and new road to Rumah Jumput Ak Senduk, Batang Anap, Tatau.

Talib said Rumah John Asan in Sungai Annau Tatau was equipped new wooden walkers and a covered jetty. He added, a new market site was also built at Kampung Seberang Kuala Tatau.
