‘Jimi’ is 2020 Johor Sukma mascot

KULAI: A tiger named Jimi was picked as the mascot for the 2020 Johor 20th Malaysian Games (Sukma) on July 11-19.

Jimi was picked as the mascot as it symbolised the Southern Tigers, and represented bravery and fierceness and also highlighted the characteristics of the Johor Sultanate which was the identity of the state of Johor.

Meanwhile, the 2020 Johor 20th Sukma logo was syonymous with the jawi writing through the word  ‘Jimi’ representing the state of Johor, which was also combined into becoming a festival torch, simultaneously becoming the pride of the people of Johor who still upheld the jawi writing.

Gambier and black pepper, which were the natural treasures of the state, were also uplifted as part of the torch for the festival while the slogan ‘Champions’ Glory’ (Semarak Juara) which was selected and placed in the logo, would be the clarion call to answer challenges and empower the sporting spirit and glory of sports.

The launching of the mascot and logo was performed by Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal at a hotel in Senai, near Kulai Wednesday. which was also attended by the State Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development and Co-operative Committee chairman Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali.

According to Sahruddin, Johor, which was known for its high courtesy and culture, vowed to be crowned as the best organiser for the festival which would take place at three venues, namely, Johor Bahru, Muar and Kota Tinggi. – Bernama
