SARIKEI: Every village security and development committee (JKKK) of dwellings such as kampungs, longhouses and residential areas must understand and practise the functions and responsibilities of the committee.

JKKK members must understand the scope of work and community policing activities as well as protocols on before, during and after duty, said Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

“I hope that with community policing programme, we can strengthen our relationship with each other and increase our trust in the Sarawak government.

“Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has brought great development to the state, especially in Sarikei here. Our chief minister has given full commitment and dedication to help and fulfil the needs of Sarawakians,” he said, while hoping that all JKKKs could work with dedication excellence for the benefit of all.

Huang said this at the community policing programme held Sarikei Community Hall here on Sunday (Oct 25).

On Covid-19, he hoped that people always maintain their discipline in taking care of their personal health especially in fully complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the authorities such as wearing face masks, washing hands regularly and using hand sanitiser.

“I hope you maintain your own and families’ health; stay safe and adopt the new norms to break the Covid-19 chain,” he stressed.
