KUCHING: Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) staff held a ‘bubur lambuk’ (spiced congee) programme here on Friday (April 30) in conjunction with the fasting month of Ramadan.

Ten firefighters from the Petra Jaya fire station were also present to carry out disinfection work at the JKMS building.

Cooking started as early as 8am with female staff preparing the ingredients while the male staff prepared the cooking materials. This was later followed by the packing of the spiced congee once cooking was done.

The spiced congee was then distributed to JKMS staff, firefighters and all who were involved.

Kapitan Tan Keng Yew also donated 90 packets to Kuching JKMS.

Among those present were Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, JKMS director Noriah Ahmad, and Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman.
