KUCHING: Road users plying along Jalan Tun Razak are advised to be alert at all times due to milling and resurfacing work as well as concrete pavement repairs on the said road. “They are to adhere to traffic management warning signs on site,” said the Public Works Department (JKR) in a statement yesterday. To reduce congestion, road users are also encouraged to use alternative routes to get to their destinations.

“Any inconvenience caused is very much regretted,” JKR added. JKR Sarawak also said it had commenced major repair works at Jalan Tun Razak-Jalan Foochow junction by using joint concrete pavement method (rigid pavement).

The repair works commenced since Aug 8 and is scheduled to be completed by November. Work is currently at stage one (30 percent progress). “The contractor will carry out day and night work within the working zone in order to complete the project on time.

“However, limited working area, heavy traffic and hindrance caused by underground utility cables during excavation work may affect and slow down the progress,” JKR said. Besides the traffic management that has been put in place during the construction work, the traffic police are also assisting to control the traffic flow during morning and afternoon peak hours, it added.
