KUCHING: The traffic congestion during peak hours at the T-junction of Lorong 3, Jalan Stakan has prompted residents and business community to lodge complaints with the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau chief Wilfred Yap.

He disclosed that the route is often used by the public as a bypass to avoid the traffic congestion at Kota Sentosa commercial area during peak hours.

After receiving the complaints, he brought it to the attention of Padawan Municipal Council’s engineering department.

He added that the council had requested for funding from the state government to resolve the problem and it had been approved.

“Tender was awarded through open tender and works have commenced. There are more problems that need development funding and SUPP Kota Sentosa along with SUPP PCB will try its best to resolve each and every one of them,” said Yap.

The contract sum for the improvement and upgrading works is approximately RM325,000.
