PADAWAN: An unemployed man was arrested for possessing drugs worth RM550 at Stapok Resettlement Scheme, Jalan Batu Kawa on Wednesday.

A narcotics police team arrested the 24-year-old suspect on the suspicion of being involved in drugs in a house around 2pm.

Physical inspections found nothing illegal on the suspect. However, the team found a black case with a plastic packet containing crystalline lumps believed to be syabu.

Padawan deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong who confirmed the case, said the drugs weighing 5.29g along with a digital video recorder were seized as evidence.

“During questioning, the suspect denied that the seized drugs belonged to him and admitted to receiving (the drug) supply from a local man.

“Aside from that, the suspect has been involved in drug activities since 2017,” he said.

He pointed out that efforts to obtain more information from the suspect as well as to trace the supply of the drugs are ongoing.
