KUCHING: A jobless 35-year-old man was arrested for drug possession under Section 39(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act, 1952 which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, fine and whipping upon conviction.
The suspect from Nanas Road West here is also to be charged for drug-taking.
Last Monday at about 4.30pm at Jalan Pentanak here, a team of Narotic police arrested the suspect who was alone.
During the arrest, police seized 17.09 gram of drugs with a market value of RM4,785.20 from the suspect.
The suspect was also tested positive for drugs. He is being detained for further questioning.
