PADAWAN: Police here arrested an unemployed man for allegedly hitting and injuring his two younger brothers in a house at the Batu Kawa Resettlement Scheme last Friday (Aug 6).

The 33-year-old suspect was picked up at the same house by the Padawan Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Task Force 3 personnel on Sunday (Aug 8) around 1.30pm.

District deputy police chief, DSP Lim Jaw Shyong, said the suspect admitted to fighting with his 21-year-old brother and hitting another 20-year-old disabled brother with his bare hands.

“The incident started because his disabled brother threw a bag, helmet and fruits belonging to the suspect’s friend into a drain in front of the house.

“Background checks found that the suspect had a past record for vehicle theft. He will be remanded until Aug 13 for further investigations,” said Lim.

He added that the 21-year-old victim saw the suspect hitting his disabled brother on the head around 2.30pm at their residence.

When the victim rushed to intervene and defend his brother from further beatings, a fight ensued between him and the suspect.

Lim said the 21-year-old victim, who suffered injuries to his face, neck and body, lodged a police report after the fight.

The case is being investigated under Section 323/18A of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
