KUCHING: An unemployed man was arrested for possessing drugs worth RM1,700 behind a medical clinic at MJC, Batu Kawa today.

Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the arrest carried out by a Padawan NCID team, took place at 12.45pm at a parking lot behind a medical clinic.

“Before the arrest, the 34-year-old man was seen throwing a black object into a drain nearby.

“The team managed to retrieve the object and found that it was a small bag containing two transparent plastic packages with crystal lumps suspected to be syabu, with an estimated weight of 16.17g and worth RM1,700,” he said.

The suspects along with the seized drugs were taken to Padawan NCID headquarters for further actions.

He noted that the suspect, who had previous criminal records, was tested positive for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

During interrogation, the suspect said the drugs were obtained from an unidentified individual and it was last obtained on Friday at Jalan BDC, Stampin.

Aidil added efforts to obtain more information from the subject and tracking down the supply of drugs was in full swing.
