Jobless man nabbed for substance abuse

BAU: A 23-year-old unemployed man was arrested on suspicion of substance abuse today (Jan 23).

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the arrest took place during a raid conducted around 11.30am in a wooden hut at Jalan Gua Angin.

“The team inspected the man and found a plastic packet containing crystalline powder believed to be syabu weighing around 0.68g.

“The seized drugs valued around RM100, along with the man, were taken to the police station for further action,” he said.

Background checks found that the man has a criminal record and tested positive for drugs.

Poge noted that the case is being investigated under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952

If convicted, the suspect can be fined not more than RM100,000 or jailed not more than five years, or both.
